Mads and Jonas in Rally Deutschland Print E-mail
Wednesday, 18 August 2010 14:30

Mads and Jonas will be doing Rally Deutschland this week. This time they will be in a different car and a different class from their previous WRC starts, in an M-Sport, Stobart entered Ford Fiesta S2000.

There are 3 main reasons for the change:

  1. Mads want to gain experience with the S2000 car as a preparation for 2011, when S2000 will be the technical platform for WRC cars.
  2. Mads has limited experience with tarmac, and it is a good idea to combine getting experience with a new type of car with getting more experience with a different surface.
  3. It is a good experience for Mads and Jonas to be with a proper factory team.

“We have been very well taken care of by M-sport, on all levels and all parts of the organization”, Mads says. “I was with M-sport in Cockermouth last week to shake the car down, and I was testing this Monday in Germany. I am very happy with what I have seen and experienced. I am impressed by the car, which suits my driving style and preferences very well.”

Rally Deutschland will be a different rally for Mads and Jonas. It is the first time Mads is doing Rally Deutschland. He has only 2 previous experiences on WRC tarmac rallies, from 2008, and 3 rallies in Norway as the total tarmac experience. And it is his first time on tarmac this year. The main thing will therefore be to get more practice and experience with the surface, concentrating from the start finding the right balance between quick and safe speed and good rhythm.

“I am definitely looking forward to it,” Mads says. “I have been very comfortable with the car on the test, but I am humble to the fact that I am lacking tarmac experience. But when we start I can promise that we will not be thinking on that, we are in Germany to do our very best”, he concludes.
