Mads and Jonas has finished Rally Deutschland Print E-mail
Sunday, 22 August 2010 22:00

Mads and Jonas has finished Rally Deutschland and our summary is as follows: Except for the problem with the main switch/fire extinguisher on Friday, that cost them more than 5 minutes, it has been a very good rally, where we achieved a lot of what we went there for.

Mads was matching the speed of the best drivers in the class from the first moment. He was leading SS1 until he was flagged, and he won SS2. After SS3 the competition element in reality disappeared. They were down on 54th. place after the incident with the main switch/fire extinguisher. Mads was continuing setting good speed time anyway, all through the rally, without pushing dramatically. They ended as number 16 overall, 6th. in class.

Mads got a good feeling with the Super 2000 car. “I am used to the torque from the turbo engine. With the 2 liter aspirated we have to be on the rev limiter all the time. That is a big difference, and I must admit that I geared too early from time to time, but it improved well through the rally. Next year we will have 1, 6 liter turbo in the cars, then it will be business as usual for me. The handling of this car suits me very well, and was a very good experience. Even if it rained on my test, and we started on sunny and warm, I was quickly getting used to it, and found it very good” Mads says. “In reality we were trying out new things and/or theories on every loop, and learned a lot about how the car reacts.”

Mads also got the experience he wanted with tarmac, and had a “good first meeting” with Rally Deutschland. “In general we have got very good pace notes,” Jonas says,” except for Panzerplatte, so all in all we will have good use for them next year.”

M-sport was a good experience for our team. We have been very well received, have had very good support all through the rally. We are impressed to see how well organized M-Sport is, to run a WRC rally with 11 cars, 6 in WRC and 5 in SWRC is not an easy job, and the team managed very well.  We will be with M-Sport again, in Rally France, with the same car, and we are already looking forward to that.
