It is the final round of the FIA World Rally Championship, Wales Rally GB. With fastest time on today's shakedown and a good test last weekend, Mads Østberg and Jonas Andersson are ready to fight for a good position.
- This shows that we have done a good test, and we have found a good setup that works. Shakedown is neither a part of the rally or equal to some of the stages, but it is an indication for us. It was a great boost, and we also got a good feeling before the rally, said a happy Mads Østberg after the shakedown.
Tomorrow the 13th round of the WRC starts in city of Llandudno, in Northern Wales, and the participants are back on gravel.
This year, the rally is a little special. It will run over four days, there will be a remote service and parc ferme in Llandudno Thursday night. Friday morning the crews moves south in the direction of the service park in Builth Wells, and parc ferme will be in Cardiff for the rest of the weekend. - After the recce, I feel that it is the best stages I have been through in Wales ever. I'm really looking forward to start, and the new stages looks really good. It seems that the farther north you are in Wales, the better roads you find. So I'm very happy that we are so far north, said a laughing Østberg.
Wales Rally GB is known for its muddy, slippery and fast roads, but that's no obstacle for Østberg who thinks that the surface is good. - There is good grip in the line, but outside there is really slippery because of the mud. You can compare it with driving on snow, which is good for me, said the Ford driver.??
The 24-year-old feels well prepared before the last round, but he had to work hard with sponsors to to get the financial.
- I am very glad that it worked out well in cooperation with old and new sponsors. I feel very clear and I am motivated to do well here. I think we have a good chance to fight for a very good position, said Mads Østberg.
