Østberg: - We can finish on the podium tomorrow! Print E-mail

Stobart's Mads Østberg and co-driver Jonas Andersson are still the best Norwegian team, and are lying third after three of four days are finished in Wales Rally GB.

Mads Østberg had a good starting position today, after he finished third overall Friday afternoon. The M-Sport Stobart driver looked forward to a real fight with Petter Solberg, but Solberg had to retire before the opening stage of day three.

- Just as we were about to start the stage we got the message on the screen, and it was a big disappointment actually. I was so ready to fight with Petter (Solberg), and I can not be sure if we had beaten him, but it would been a nice fight and it's a shame it did not happened, said Mads Østberg.

It was a thrilling moment for Østberg in the afternoon at today´s repeat loop of three stages totalling 128.56 km with speed, when the engine on his Ford Fiesta RS WRC suddenly were running on three cylinders after he had stopped the car.?

- We’ve had a message from the team to only use high revs, but we didn’t lose too much time so that is good. We can not change the parts that we need in the engine during the rally, so we have to run with it tomorrow. But the team is certain that the car will keep it to the end, and we can finish on the podium tomorrow - that's all it is about now, said Mads Østberg.

Although Østberg has a good margin with over two minutes ahead of team mate Henning Solberg in fourth, he can not relax. There are still six stages totalling 86.48 km left, before they finish up Sunday afternoon.
