Good tactical driving gave Mads Østberg and co-driver Jonas Andersson
third place in Rally Argentina after Dani Sordo had to drop out only
kilometres before the finish line. The duo came to Argentina hoping for a top four result. After the first day the result was a fact.
With over four minutes down to the next car Adapta World Rally Team decided to use the rest of Rally Argentina as a preparation for Rally Greece. A strategy both Mads Østberg and team manager Morten Østberg was satisfied with. – Mads has done a really good job here something we’re obviously happy with. He pushed hard when that needed and also held back when that was necessary. To hold back is not an easy job as a rally driver as you rather would like to push all the time, Morten Østberg says. The gap between Sordo and Østberg held steady throughout almost the entire rally. Østberg and Andersson drove safe and made sure that the fourth place was secured. But four kilometres before the finish line Sordo had to drop out because of some technical problems and Østberg ended on the podium. – I’m very pleased with the rally. We’ve done a good job and had gained a lot of good practise before Greece. Because of what happened to Sordo I can’t really enjoy this podium as much as I would like to but it shows that a rally isn’t over until we cross the finish line. This is such a result, Mads Østberg says. In the last four WRC-rounds the duo has been on the podium three times. Morten Østberg says the team is a huge part of the results. – We have a rare team put together by the best mechanics that always make sure that the car is in the best possible shape. If it wasn’t for them these podiums wouldn’t be realized, Morten Østberg says.
