There was a good first day for Mads Østberg and Jonas Andersson in Rally Finland. After a good start on SS1, where Mads was keeping the pace with the
best, it was a small setback due to an organizer mistake on SS2.
SS2 was a super special, where the drivers are running 2 and 2 together. Mads got the outer track, and the windshield was broken after massive stone impact on the first corner. - The organizers should have shielded the outer lane against stones being sprayed, it is common, but it was just guard rails here. Many cars in outer lane got the same problem, and it was a stupid mistake by the organizers, I think, says Mads, who also had to drive the next stage with a damaged windshield. That obviously didn't slow him down, he was "flying". Loeb was "flying" even faster, but no others. Mads and Jonas ended as number 2 on the stage, and 4 overall.
Overall results after day 1: Loeb 15:07,1 Hirvonen og Latvala 15:14,4 Mads 15:14,6 Neuville 15:16,1 Petter Solberg 15:16,3
- Very close race, says Mads, and a very good starting point for tomorrow. We look forward to a new day with very good and very fast stages.
