In cooperation with Prodrive AWRT will run a 2 car team in Rally Finland. Mads Østberg will, as usual, run AWRT’s Subaru WRC 08. Finnish driver, Jari Ketomaa, will join AWRT for Finland, and will drive the AWRT Subaru WRC 07. “We have discussed this possibility with Jari for some time”, team owner, Morten Østberg, says. “I know Jari has worked hard to make it happen, and we are very pleased to have him with us in a two car team together with Mads.”Adapta is still not satisfied with the handling on the WRC 08 car on loose and slippery roads, which Mads suffered from in Poland. The team has worked to improve this before Finland, but have not been able to find the ideal conditions for that type of testing. “We have made progress during the test, but I would have preferred to a have a proper wet test before I say anything certain. I am therefore asking for good weather in Finland”, Mads says with a smile. He is not willing to say anything more specific about ambitions, but he definitely wants WRC points. “I was not happy with what happened in Poland, so we must just wait and see. But I promise to do my best to get a good result” he says. For Jari Ketomaa Rally Finland will be the first rally in a WRC car. “I will do a 100k test before the rally, which I am very much looking forward to,” Jari says. Jari does not leave the opportunity to tell about his ambitions. “If I can get well known with the car on the test it is possible to do a good rally. If everything works well, I hope to be within top 6” he says”. Jari, who is leading the Finish championship at the moment, was also Finish champion in 2006 and 2007, finished 08 PWRC series as number 3. It might sound a bit optimistic for a small team to finish with two cars within point scoring position, in the most competitive rally in the whole WRC series? “If we can avoid problems, it is not totally unrealistic,” Morten Østbergs says, when he is asked the question. “We know that Mads has the speed to take points in every WRC rally. And I know that Jari is a very good driver that has done impressive things in gr. N cars. So if we avoid problems it is possible. All team members are committed to work very hard to give both drivers the best opportunity”. |
